affiliated site of the NPS, The National AIDS Memorial Grove is located
at the eastern end of Golden Gate Park, north of the bowling
greens and west of the tennis courts. You can find the stamp
in the grove every Thursday from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM when tours
are given. You can also contact the office at 856 Stanyan
Street, 415-750-8346. |

Eugene O'Neill National Historic Site is a house located in the
middle of a private residential area of Danville. Because of
this, the park service does not allow visitors to drive to the
site. You must make a reservation and you will be bused to
the site. But I didn't do that. |

This
stamp is on The Rock, and the only way to get there is via
water. Since it is not easy to get here, you might as well
enjoy the site. The award winning audio tour of the cell
house is extremely interesting. The Blue and Gold Fleet
boats leave from Pier 41. You may need to make reservations
for tickets as this in an extremely popular tourist
destination. Check out the Blue
and Gold web site for boat schedules and fees. You can
purchase tickets on-line or by calling 415-705-5555. The
stamp is kept at the Ranger Station next to the bookstore, right
at the boat docks. |

Avenue. Parking can be difficult. |

Fort Funston Visitor
Center was closed both times I visited. However, there was a
ranger in the South District Ranger Station, right next door, and
he got me the stamp. The site is between Skyline Boulevard
and the Pacific Ocean, south of the San Francisco Zoo. |

or what is left of it anyway, lies along US-395 about halfway
between Lone Pine and Independence. But there are no NPS
facilities there. Instead the stamp can be found at the
Interagency Visitor Center in Lone Pine, at the corner of US-395
and route 136. |

directly under the very large thermometer. From I-15 take

and route 1. The visitor center is at the north end of the
parking lot. Ask for the stamp in the bookstore. |

Bear Gulch Visitor Center is 5 miles from route 25, halfway
between Hollister and King City. Turn southwest from 25 onto
route 146 and follow it to the end. |

Valley Road. The stamp is kept at the information
desk. The same stamp is also available at the Point Reyes
Lighthouse. The lighthouse is 20.5 miles further along Sir

Lodgepole Visitor Center is deep inside the Sequoia National Park,
along the Generals Highway. From the north, take route 180
from Fresno through Kings Canyon, about an 80 mile ride.
From the south, take route 198 from Visalia, about 55 miles but a
much more twisty route. |
