Denali
NP & PRES
Denali, AK |
|
This
stamp is available at two locations, and you must ask for it at
both. The easier of the two is the main visitor center
located less than a mile from the Parks Highway. You can also get
the stamp in the Eielson Visitor Center at milepost 66 of
the Denali Park road. You will not be able to ride your
motorcycle to Eielson. You must take a park tour bus, or
ride a bicycle, the later choice preferable if you would like to
feed the grizzly bears. The main course would be you. |
Denali
NP & PRES - Talkeetna
Talkeetna, AK |
|
Talkeetna
is a small town southeast of Denali, and the jumping off point for
climbers preparing to ascend Mount McKinnley. The excellent
ranger station is located at the end of the Talkeetna Spur Road,
about 15 miles from the Parks Highway. Follow the road
through town and turn left just before the campground. Ask
the ranger at the information desk for the stamp. |
Gates
of The Arctic NP & PRES - Coldfoot
Coldfoot, AK |
|
Coldfoot
is 60 miles north of the Arctic Circle, along the Dalton
Highway. The Dalton is a very difficult road, and you will
have to ride through dirt, mud and rocks for more than 200 miles
to get here. The visitor center is located a few hundred
feet off the Dalton, at the northern entrance to Coldfoot.
If you are lucky, Gwen will be there with this stamp. |

Kenai Fjords NP - Exit Glacier

The

Glacier. The last 4.2 miles of this road are unpaved gravel.
The stamp is in the Ranger Station at the start of the
trail. |
Kenai Fjords NP
Seward, AK |
|
This
stamp is at the main visitor center in downtown Seward. Take
the Seward Highway (route 9) into town and follow the
signs. Parking is a pain here, and a nasty ranger
threatened to tow my motorcycle from the NPS only spaces.
Hey, I was ONLY going to the NPS office! |
Lake

Yukon
Charley Rivers NPRES - Eagle
Eagle, AK |
|
Eagle
is at the north end of the Taylor Highway, a 170 mile dirt road
from Tetlin Junction on the Alaska Highway. Actually the first 20
miles are chip-sealed. The Taylor Highway is not open in
winter and often closed due to washouts. When you reach Eagle turn left
at the intersection. Pass the public well and museum
on your left, and continue across the grass airstrip. The
visitor information center is at the end of the path, on the far
side of the playing field. |
